MY CHILD IS OVER 3 AND IS SPENDING MORE TIME OUTDOORS, WHAT DO YOU DO IF IT RAINS OR IS REALLY COLD?
Outdoor play is a big part of our day. We provide a recommended kit list to help families choose practical clothing that keeps children warm, dry and comfortable in all seasons.
Our outdoor classroom is thoughtfully designed with a roof and roller blinds to shelter children from wind and rain, allowing learning and play to continue even in the less than perfect weather.
Our pre-schoolers spend much of their day outdoors, embracing the changing seasons. We are guided by the Scandinavian saying 'there's not such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing' That said, children's wellbeing always comes first. If the weather is unsafe or not appropriate, we can move into our indoor over 3's classroom at any time.

DO YOU USE PAPER OR AN ONLINE PLATFORM FOR LEARNING JOURNALS?
We know how much our families value their children's learning journals, so each child will receive a physical learning journal that you can keep forever.

Alongside this, we have introduced the famly online app for our pre-school class. We do not upload any posts in front of the children. Our practitioners time is focused on teaching, playing and engaging with the children. As a setting we have always prioritised being present with the children, which means updates may be shared less frequently. however, the posts you do receive are meaningful, thoughtful and of high quality.
Our team are always available for daily verbal feedback, ensuring so you are kept informed about how your child's day has been and what they have been learning about.

HOW DO YOU MONITOR CHILDREN'S LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT?
We use the Early Years Outcomes guidance to support and understand your child's developmental milestones. Observations are gathered naturally through play, exploration and every day interactions, alongside valuable information you share with us as parents and carers.

Using our professional knowledge and experience, we create in depth, meaningful learning plans. Our learning plans show how we support your child within the nursery and includes practical tips and ideas to help you continue their learning at home.
