General Questions & Answers
CAN I VISIT THE NURSERY?
We usually encourage all our prospective parents to come and find out more about us, however whilst we are in Tier 4 visits are temporally paused.
During the Coronavirus pandemic and in line with Government advice for Early Years Settings we are only holding visiting days at weekends (during Tier's 1-3). All visitors must wear shoe covers, masks and hand sanitise when entering.
HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU TAKE PER DAY?
We take up to 24 children a day of mix ages from 6 months – 5 years.
IS THERE A WAITING LIST?
Due to the high demand for Little Sparrows, we do have waiting lists for most of our age groups. If you have visited and would like to put your child’s name on our waiting list, you will need to complete and return the registration form to us and pay a £50 non refundable registration fee.
ARE YOU STILL HAVING MIXED AGE MONTESSORI PLAY?
At present we are only working in two bubbles (the under 3's and over 3's) so unfortunately we are not currently allowing any mixed aged play - we hope to reintroduce this in 2021!
MY CHILD IS OVER 3 AND IS SPENDING MORE TIME OUTDOORS, WHAT DO YOU DO IF IT RAINS OR IS REALLY COLD?
We have a recommended kit list to help parents know what clothing is appropriate to keep your child warm and dry outside. Our outside classroom has a roof and roller blinds which can protect children from the wind and rain.
We always put the children the first so if the weather is too cold or too windy, we still have our indoor over 3's Activity Room classroom we can use at any time!
DO YOU USE ONLINE APPS AS A PLATFORM FOR LEARNING JOURNALS?
No not currently. We gave the vote to our parents and the feedback was that they love taking home a physical learning journal which they can share with their family and keep forever.
HOW DO YOU MONITOR CHILDREN'S LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT?
We follow the EYFS as a tool to guide through your child's developmental milestones. We collect information from our observations and seek out information from you, their parents. We then write up an in depth learning plan to show how we are supporting your child’s learning in the Nursery and tips in how you can support at home. It's important we do this together so your child can get the best learning experience.
ARE ALL STAFF CHECKED AND HOLD ENHANCED DISCLOSURES?
Yes absolutely - we are Ofsted registered and all staff are rigorously checked and hold Enhanced Disclosures.
